Solar Ultraviolet Irradiance Characterization under All Sky Conditions in Burgos, Spain

Solar Ultraviolet Radiation (UVR), which is identified as a major environmental health hazard, responsible for variety of photochemical reactions with direct effects on urban and aquatic ecosystems, human health, plant growth, the deterioration industrial systems. Ground measurements total solar UVR are scarce, low spatial temporal coverage around world, mainly due to measurement equipment maintenance costs complexities calibration routines; however, models designed estimate ultraviolet rays from global radiation frequently used alternatives. In an experimental campaign in Burgos, Spain, between September 2020 June 2022, average values ratio horizontal irradiance (GHUV) (GHI) were determined, based at ten-minute intervals. Sky cloudiness was most influential factor ratio, more so than any daily, monthly, or seasonal pattern. Both CIE standard sky classification clearness index characterize conditions homogeneous skies. Overcast types presented highest whereas clear categories lowest dispersed values, regardless criteria classification. The main conclusion, practical purposes, that GHUV GHI can be model GHUV.
